WEMPEC Funded IP
“WEMPEC Funded IP” specifically refers to all patents resulting from research projects directly supported by the WEMPEC membership contributions. The IP is managed by the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF), the University of Wisconsin’s designated patenting and licensing organization.
Licensing Options
WARF offers two licensing packages specifically for WEMPEC Funded IP:
Non-Exclusive Research License
- Opt-In Research License with low obligations
- Small annual fee of $5,000
- No reporting requirements
- Enables full research analysis and consideration of all WEMPEC funded IP
- Product sales restricted
- Renews annually and automatically includes new WEMPEC funded IP
Non-Exclusive Commercial License
- Commercial License to specified WEMPEC funded IP
- One-time upfront fee
- License lasts until patent expiration
- No reporting requirements
- Allows Product sales
- Upfront fee scales with amount of patents
- One patent: $20,000
- Two to five patents: $55,000
- More than five patents: $100,000
